Can our charity get a gmail a/c without having a domain?
Discussion
A bunch of bods in our village (including me) have become trustees of a newly registered charity which aims to improve the lives of villagers through various community projects. We'd like to set up a bespoke gmail account for the charity to get all the comms in one place and make it easy for everyone to liaise with the trustees.
In words of one syllable, how can we do this, ie get a gmail address? As one of the few people here without a long white beard I've been nominated to sort this out but my initial Googling has only confused me.

You can use your registered charity to apply for a nonprofits account, which will get you Google Workspace which contains a 'gmail' account service for you, amongst other very useful services and tools.

Thanks both for the info, much appreciated.
Listen to him ^^ if you can figure the functionality out.If it's free and you can use the functionality it's a no-brainer

I would consider registering a domain too even if it's just set to forward to a gmail address initially.
Just to update, I have tried to set up a Google For Non-Profits account today but have had to give up after being asked to get a validation certificate from something called TechSoup. To do that I was asked to join an organisation called Charity Digital. After half an hour of battling through their application process to get our organisation registered with them I stopped because our organisation is not organised. That was the whole point of this exercise. They're asking for income, mission statement information, accounts, yadda yadda, and of course our organisation's email address which we don't have. The setting up of that email address was my only objective but instead I seem to have gone down an Alice In Wonderland rabbit hole.

Maybe just register a MyCharityNameContact@gmail.com in the interim?
eg HeartDiseaseWorcester@gmail.com?
It's OK, I went with beg HeartDiseaseWorcester@gmail.com?
hstewie's suggestion and to my amazement managed to create a functioning email address for the charity. It had my name on it to start with, which was not the plan ha ha, but I found out how to edit the name and now it has the charity's name on it, which is great. This is all kindergarten stuff for younger folk I know but it's befuddling for old geezers like me so thanks again to all on here for the help.

You should just be able to share the password for the charity account with them, as long as it’s different to your personal account password
Yes thanks that's what I thought. I assumed I could just tell them the address and the (not my!) password and they would be off and running, but the one who would probably want to use it the most (the chairman) said his understanding was that up to ten alternative users could be delegated (?) but he had no idea how he should go about using and accessing the account.
