Laptop mics

[Dr Jekyll]

Why do external microphones invariably seem to come with mini USB when most laptops have USB? Or is it my laptops that are too old?

[xeny]

Maybe they're typically plugged in to cameras and I think my camera with a USB mic socket is micro USB.

It's also more practical to adapt up from micro to standard than down to micro.

usb mini would be very unusual on a laptop, usb-c is now pretty common on laptops less than 5 years old.
