Hi guys,

I need to purchase a 4g router for a rural holiday let installation in Scotland

I've got line of sight to the mast 3 miles away, and on my phone I get >70mb speeds

any recommendations..

it is coastal if that makes any difference

The Huawei B818 gets pretty good reviews.

If you get a good speed on your phone then you may not even need an external antenna.

Cheers, will need external as inside it drops off badly due to it being such solid construction

I’ve got this Huawei in my caravan in Argyll with this antenna - I’m using an EE 5G “unlimited” SIM which is a normal phone sim, for 30 quid a month - I use it at home as well

Unlocked Huawei B535-232 CAT7 300mbps 4G/LTE Home/Office Router (White) with 2 x External Antennas. Will work with any Sim Card Worldwide (Renewed) https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZFSX8LB/ref=cm_sw...

Here’s the antenna
Poynting 4G-XPOL-A0001 Cross Polarised 4G Omni LTE Antenna https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00C1DGFPS/ref=cm_sw...

Mast is over the top of a hill - download fine but upload struggles without the external antenna … I have the antenna inside, if you can get it outside will be great

I have the Huawei B535-232 4g router and its great. 1GB ethernet ports. Add an external antenna as suggested above and the performance is even better. Easy to setup. I can't fault it.

I use Microtik routers - they aren't the latest spec (Cat6) and are rate limited by the 100Mbps port (if you can exceed that in your cell which I can't) but are very easily situated on a supplied bracket and poe powered so no messing around with coax tethered antennas. They are semi directional which seems to work well. I've had no reliability issues.
