Had my phone stolen for the second time in a year and now using an old Honor 9 lite. It only has 32GB of memory so bought a card and hoped to use it as extended memory, but while I can store photos taken with the camera on the SD card for example I can not move any of my apps onto it.

Any suggestions how to do this

A quick google comes up with this (see below).

BUT, this includes a format option, so if you've already got stuff on your SD card, this will be erased!! You should definitely back up the SD card before trying this!!

How to move apps to SD card:

Put the micro SD card in your Android phone.
Open the Settings app.
Select Storage.
Tap on the SD card you inserted.
Hit the menu button and select Storage settings.
Choose Format as internal.
Hit Erase and format.
Hit OK.
Migrate your data (or choose to do so later).
You are done!

And then:

How to move apps to SD card:

Open the Settings app.
Go into Apps & notifications.
Access the app you want to move to the SD card.
Select Storage.
If the app supports the feature, you will see an option to change where the app is stored. Go ahead and change it to the inserted SD card.

Sorry, I'm just going off google. I did have the original HTC Desire when I did this, but I've got a Pixel now with lots of built in memory and no SD slots, so the instructions don't work for me either.

Maybe just try the second set of steps?

Don't be sorry thanks for the effort of posting!

I have tryed the second step, downloaded an app called ApptoSD which lists all the apps that can be moved but can't move any of them.
