I need to be able to record my journey time. A large proportion will be car but the final element may be public transport or walking.

Is it possible to download data from a completed journey from the Google Maps app which lists something like start time, arrival time etc for the complete end to end journey?

Or are there alternative 3rd party apps that achieve this to anyone's knowledge?

Thanks

Look at a clock before you start your journey, then look at one again when you finish.
Give these times to any adult and they can work out your journey duration.

Most cars have single journey trip computers in them you could use!? Even my 16 year old Mercedes has “time elapsed since start”

I probably deserve the sarcasm for not providing more context. I need to prove to my employer that my journey time is taking over a certain amount of time. I can try showing them a before and after time and would hope that, as adults, I'm trusted... but it's 2021 so even better if there is an app of some sort that will allow me to report on a journey/export journey data as PDF or something of the sort.

lots of apps that do this.

Trip Tracker seems to have reasonable reviews for this

Google maps, and enter the date and start time - it will give an estimate based on actual historic data from traffic at that time of day.

Yes understand Google will give the estimation but I wish to record the whole end to end journey and then download the data from it, can't seem to find a way to do this from Google Maps.

Roughly how long is the journey?
I'd be tempted to take selfies at 30 second intervals and dump the folder on your boss.
Should result in you never needing to do it again.

Possibly because of contract termination, but then I always make sure I am invaluable so can get away with taking the piss.

If you're using an Android phone, Google is already tracking you. Log in to your Google account in a web browser, open Google Maps and in the search bar on the right there will be three little horizontal lines. Click this and it opens a menu, then click 'Your Timeline'.

Use one of the walk tracking apps like Alltrails or Outdooractive. It will save your trips to the website which you can then show your boss.

This. You can do it on your phone too. Just open Maps, click your icon in top right and select 'Your Timeline'. It'll tell you whether you were walking, driving, cycling etc. I use it a lot and it's pretty smart and accurate.

Thanks Both. Any way to do it when using an iPhone? When I log into Google in a web browser and follow the steps above, it has 'devices on this account' and has my iPhone listed but won't let me select the checkbox, it's grey'd out and says 'use a location enabled google app on the ios device to change the setting'

I'm afraid I left iPhone after version 4, I didn't want to lose Google maps. Take a look at this though:

I think you need to download Google Maps (i.e. not access it on your browser).

I've no experience of using it on an iPhone though.

Also Strava which has the advantage that you can log the trip on the phone app, but then access the data on a PC

...and if you log it as a bike ride you can really ps off road cyclists when you drive down a road faster than they can cycle it hehe

Free Strava probably would do.
