Uploading Android photos to Google

I have been using Google Photos for the past couple of years. I've got my previous phone knocking around still and wondered when I fire it up, how do I ask/tell it to upload photos from it to my Google Photos? I was not using Google Photos when I had the previous phone.

Both current and previous phones are Android and I use/used the same Gmail account on both.

IIRC, install the google photos app, run it. It should then ask if you want to grant access to the photos folder. Say yes, obvs.

It should then find all of the photos and start uploading. I'd make sure this was on wifi....

There's also the possibility you may need to take a picture with the camera for the app to find the camera folder and ask for the permission. But it should be straightforward.

Literally install it, login to the account and it will ask you if you want to back them up.
