I thought it would be a good idea to have an electronic family calendar to try to keep track of various appointments etc.

After looking around I thought a raspberry pi connected to the kitchen TV would be good.

A bit more digging suggested I shoud use the magic mirror software as I could add weather forecasts etc.

After about 24hours of breaking things I've mananged to install the Magicmirror OS on the pi and it boots into a display fine.
Problem is I cannot work out how to configure/personalise it.
I can't seem to SSH into the pi from my macbook and I can't access a terminal from the Magicmirror- screen just goes blank.
I've looked at various guides on the net but cannot find a guide for an idiot such as me.

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction please
thanks in advance

Apologies if this is too simple minded

One thing i hate about these forums is posting a really difficult problem that has taken hours to try to fix and some wiseguy pops up with an obvious fix that anyone who wasn't completely stupid would have already tried.

I hadn't enabled SSH rofl

Many thanks for your help!
Now done! I had made the fatal assumption that it would alreay have been enabled in the image as there seems to be no other way to configure it.....

we all start somewhere, raspberry pi's are great bits of kit for the price and once you get used to them it is easy. It can become addictive though I have 6 running here doing various jobs, and 3 old ones waiting for a task. it all started with buying one to learn more about Linux about 8 years ago.

They are wonderful bits of kit that I've messed around with over the years but mainly from a hardware interfacing point - still get stuck on network issues

I've got an original pi in the draw which has hardly been used, my everyday machine is a LG Chromebase that runs ElementaryOS and has 8gb ram installed but noticed recently its starting to lag behind.

Wondering if to get a Pi 400 and run that instead with Elementary OS 6 installed on it.
