My parents want a couple of cheap indoor security cameras so they can check up on their house from their phones. Budget is around £200 to £300 and I want something half decent and not some random rubbish from eBay or Amazon that has poor picture quality.

What is the best system I can pickup from Argos, Currys, Screwfix or Tool station for that money that will do the job?

Nest cameras. Simple app to use. Easy to set up.

After my initial investigation I think Nest cameras might be the answer.

The whole system must also be wireless as they don't want to have to install any cables for the cameras, and all of the cheap ones seem to have wired cameras.

Can someone explain to me what I would need to buy to have a simple Nest system with two cameras?

Happy with the Neos ones, they're surprisingly good for the money, about £30 each. Need power but use wifi for data. Have a few mounting options in the box. Can get them in Currys and B&Q these days as well as the online places.

Well I bougt rubbish from Amazon, I have two little elf cameras that cost £25 and £30 and a Victure camera that was £20 on Amazon promotion.

The daytime pictures of all three cameras is good, the Victure camera has suprisingly good night time quality pictures. I also have a cloud subscription with Victure that when triggered camptures video and is kept for seven days, I think it was £19 for a year, been using it for two years now, the phone bleeps whenever anyone enters the hallway. The Littlelf camera looks out over the garden and generates an alarm if some enters the protected zone. Both send messages to the phone

I would recommend the Victure camera over the littlelf one but wasn't available last time I was buying. The Littlelf sometimes generates false alarms but wonder whether it is because of the postion

Nest are really expensive for what they are. Look at the Reolink E1 indoor Zoom Camera, they're about £50.00 each and no subscriptions to worry about. Reolink regularly get recommended on here. Excellent 5MP HD imaging with night vision. Pan and tilt included so you can remotely cover a large area and has two way audio too. The App is really useful and sends you motion notifications and record images. Add a £8 memory card for on camera continuous recording.

Both the ones I recommended have tilt and pan, although not zoom; I don't think.

What is the point of having a memory card in the camera if that can be taken by any intruders, unless the camera is a hidden one?
