Hi all...I've recently bought a shiny new laptop, its an MSI GE66 Raider which comes with a 512GB SSD and 16GB of Ram, I would like to install another SSD for storage and double the Ram to 32GB.

What I'am not sure of is which type of Samsung Ram to buy I think this is it - https://www.flexxmemory.co.uk/memory/samsung-16gb-... - yes/no.

As for the SSD would a Samsung EVO 970 Plus 2TB work ok in the second slot...I'd be interested to hear some thoughts of other brands of SSD vs the Samsung, most reviews I've seen and read highly rate the Samsung drive.

I'am chuffed to bits with the laptop...for example my old i7 ASUS NF55 converted a video file in 35mins which I always thought was pretty good...the MSI did it in 5mins...so with a bit more space and ram it should really fly.

Look for the specific model you have and the options for it.

Or download their system scanner and let it do its thing.

If you haven't already - check current memory configuration to confirm what you have - you may have 2 8Gb RAM sticks at the moment, rather than 1 16Gb.

In the past I've used a lot of micro sd cards (flash memory) for dashcam testing purposes and Samsung are usually more reliable, more consistent and longer lived.
Toshiba (recently possibly rebranded as Kioxia) always stood out as being well priced, with consistent if unremarkable performance and above average reliability (but not as good as Samsung but not as expensive either).

I would put the most trust in Samsung. My main computer has a Samsung Evo 860. My reserve computer has a Kioxia.

Most laptop boards are not rated to take more than 16gb - upgrade beyond this at your own risk. Some people have been ok others have had major stability issues
