I took my 12 to a local back street shop as there is no need to pay extra for Apple.

I used iSmash a while ago and they were very good. I just checked their site - 45 minutes and £80 for a new screen for an 8.

They have quite a few places all over the UK

After years of repairing my own apple products I have to disagree with you.

It can be that Apple are the only ones that can maintain functionality of your phone. Getting worse with the 13 where even using Apple parts will kill key functionality on your phone.

Disgraceful behavior from Apple

Louis Rossmann makes the point that only Apple have access to OEM screens. Everybody else repairing them has to use 3rd party screens.

Against that, he's fairly scathing of the people doing the repairs for Apple, so six of one, half a dozen of the other.

£50 & 30 minutes to replace a cracked Iphone 6 at a local phone shop here.

Its obv not a genuine apple screen and does have some occasional issues like ignoring finger presses and also the actual glass seems to be not as resilient as the original.

I wonder if the 'Right to Repair' act in the US will force Apple to stop hardware coding?
