At work I use a 27" monitor with 2560 x 1440 resolution. I'm fancying something similar to use at home for £300-400. I've seen some on Amazon in my price bracket, including some with 3480 x 2160 resolution. I'd prefer to go higher res if possible as I'm used to staring at an Apple Retina display, though I'm also conscious that a higher res monitor may be poorer quality product, as a compromise, unless I pay a lot more money. Any thoughts?

Any reason why something like this wouldn't hit the spot?

Might be worth buying the latest PC Pro magazine (December 2021!) as they have a large group test of monitors in there…

I've got this one - can't beat it for the money.

Edit - yes, it's gaming orientated but while I rarely use mine to game I do love the smoooothness of 144Hz.

Was looking at this earlier. Is this screen good for photo editing too do you think? I have no idea.

Can integrated graphics on a work laptop or similar run at higher than 60Hz ?

That's the monitor I have. It's good when calibrated (I set the brightness fairly low). No issues.

There is also a 32" version now: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lg-32-32gp850-b-256...

I use these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/HANNspree-HQ272PPB-27-Inc...

£170 each when I bought them. 27" and 2k.

Don't want 4k as I'm way too close anyhow, and I want my 2060 card to be abel to run things in high settings :-)

I have 2 x iiyama QHD 27" screens. Not cutting edge sound, but otherwise great. I bought mine for a bit over £250 each, and shocked to see that they're £388+ now. Not vfm for that price. I use mine for general surfing, WP, video editing, image editing and 3D (Blender). Perfect for that. No idea what they are like for gaming.

Why the 50%+ price hike?

Good question. I'd be running it off a 2017 MacBook Pro, using it for graphic design work in Adobe Creative Cloud and making music in Logic Pro.

I think it depends how accurate you want the colour calibration. Here:
https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/s2721d...
It's rated 8/10 for media creation.
