Hi,

I film with my phone quite a bit in a cradle and would like to have a remote capable of recording video and then stopping it like you get for GoPro.

Any ideas out there?

There are Bluetooth remotes available, not sure how well they would work.

Do you use a Bluetooth mic?

If so, you could set Tasker to start recording when it detects the mic connection (for example).

I got a cheap extendable selfi-stick/tripod from Lidl and a it has a Bluetooth remote, was a tenner I think - I've only ever used it for photos/messing with astrophotography but as long as the camera is set for video it should start/stop it as it's just activating the shutter (I'm on Android fwiw)

Bit like this one perchance? Also thrown in with a cheapie mini tripod thing, off Amazon IIRC.

Just tried it and, if I set the camera app to Video mode, the remote will indeed start and stop recording. (Works in both the native camera app on my Poco phone, and the OpenCamera app.)

I'll give one of these a bash I think, wasn't sure if they worked with video so thanks for testing.
