Galaxy/Android Tablets, do you need an id?
Discussion
Do they need to have an account/id like iPads need an Apple ID to work properly? I'm an Apple user.
I need a tablet to use in a retail environment, it will be used by various staff for music/radio and web searches etc. Really don't want it locked to any email account/id etc. Do updates etc need an 'id'.

You'll need a google / gmail account for the App store to work. There are ways around this but not worth the hassle.
Just setup a random Gmail account. No credit cards needed. Just a typical joeblogs2727272@gmail.com account and you are good to go.
Its actually Google's weakness, in particular, the app store economy. Apple forces you to set up a credit card when creating an Applie ID. So consequently app store purchases are instant and painless. Convenience always wins.
Google does not. So lots of people don't have a card associated with their Google account, and so naturally, steer towards free apps.
It's why Android apps lean heavily towards ad based, or in app purchases, and Apple apps tend to be cash purchases.
