Broadband dials 0. Doesn't matter what ISP you are with.

Just rebuilt a PC or something? You should have a setup CD to recreate the connection. Or else look at your ISPs home page, if they're worth their salt there should be a How-to somewhere.

Any number will do.

All thats happening is DUN is tricking Windows into opening the socket so the data flows from the DSL router.

erm, ok ..

erm .. my bro in law called me to ask what my BB number was so he could compare to his, so I assumed I'd be able to look it up on my PC somewhere .. I assumed the modem would be dialling a number as it connects down a phone line .. is this not the case then? It's wanadoo btw.

As stated earlier, a broadband "modem" doesn't actually dial.
IIRC Wanadoo use 0,38 which actually seems pretty standard, the half dozen BB companies I have dealings with all use it.

My router uses the following stuff provided by my isp (demon).

Connection pipe: eg. lon1-aj1a.demonadsl.co.uk, your route to your isp
Password: like, wha'evar
MTU size: the size of your packets, can affect connection quality if not right
Virtual Circuit, consisting of:
VPI: normally 0
VCI: normally 38.

Your "phone number", could infact be your connection pipe. I know my friend has a backup connection for BT, which afaik uses a different pipe.

Help! any suggestions. When I try to dial up my BT broadband, the box on the screen says something like "Error cannot find server", would this be the modem or the PC at fault I wonder.

The line is OK, as my phone which comes of the filter box works OK. Do modems crash out, had mine for a couple of years.

Another question, cant remember if I had a CD to upload data to my PC for the broadband, any ideas fellas. Currently using another terminal to send and receive stuff.

My BT broadband dials 0,38 as well, by the way, changed the phone extension line from the wall socket to bedroom, and broadband works fine, very strange as the phone worked fine on the same line, still drops out after a few mins, but I cn live with that
