My other half wants to use her son's iPad - one he no longer uses. But it's locked to his Apple ID.

He's disassociated the iPad from his ID, but it's still locked to him. I guess we could ask him for his Apple password to get into it, but I'd rather not - or maybe it takes a few days for the disassociation to trickle through.

I've reset, plugged it into iTunes etc. All to no avail.

Have I missed something?

You will need to get him to perform a factory reset from the general settings menu to remove his Apple account. If he won’t do this then it is a paperweight.

OK thanks. I was hoping he could do it remotely as he and the iPad live some distance apart.

he needs to turn off Find My iPad on the device. Until he does that, you will not be able to provision it to another Apple ID.

he could change his Apple ID password temporarily, give that to you to turn off Find My on this device and then change it back.

He doesn’t need to he can log into FindMy via a full web browser and do the deletion of the device from there and all will be golden.
