IOS 15 weather app
Discussion
I have an iphone se2020 and the new singing and dancing weaather app but the 10 day forecast is just a summary ( ie: Sat 60% rain & 4 to 12c ) it doesn't seem clickable/expandable to show me if the rain is morning, afternoon or night something I would like to know
What do I need to do?
Cheers

I don’t tend to use the iOS weather app as I have generally used the BBC app.
However I have the iOS set up as a widget which opens up the full weather app and it seems to show me a 10 day forecast and an hour by hour forecast at the top of the screen. Is that not showing on yours?
I’m viewing of a Pro 13.

Mine shows the hour by hour forecast for today and a summary for the next 10 days. . . .is there no way of seeing hour by hour for tomorrow or further in advance? However I have the iOS set up as a widget which opens up the full weather app and it seems to show me a 10 day forecast and an hour by hour forecast at the top of the screen. Mine shows the forecast for the next 24 hours, then daily lo-hi forecast for the next 9 days.
I'd be happy if the forecast for the next 24 hours was accurate, and amazed if the forecast was accurate for the next 10 days, but I'd be truly astonished if the hour-by-hour forecast for 10 days ahead was anything but a probabilistic guess.

I like an App called Dark Sky.
Given Apple bought it 18 months ago I had high hopes when they announced improvements to the weather app that they were basically making it the weather app in iOS 15. Unfortunately not and all development has more or less stopped (e.g. no iOS 14+ dark sky widgets). You can get 10-day forecasts (and hourly detail for as far ahead as is sensible) from the BBC Weather and Met Office websites, as well as many others. A bookmark in your browser, or for easy reference a bookmark on your home screen will take you there.
I don't understand the need-an-app-for-everything. In fact, if it is at all possible I would rather use the browser than download another app that is collecting data.

So I'm not going nuts, there isn't a setting I'm missing that shows the detailed forecast beyond the current day?
There isn’t, but not sure why you don’t just change your weather apo to one that does. There’s lots of free ones that are probably more functional and accurate anyway.Ham_and_Jam said:

I have an unusual approach to tech because I was an engineer years ago and a consumer all my life so have inbuilt training that has served me well though outdated with cutting edge finer points. The way I see it ( a few younger people might think I'm nuts and maybe I am but I don't care ) given every device has memory and speed ( the basis of every engineer ) I tend to only load memory sparingly and keep speed to an optimised level. If I were to do as you say, which I thank you for, your advice it disregards the fundamental principles of how all devices are made ( in this case an iphone ) and although in this case it will change very little the storage and speed of my device it just goes against how I do things.
I'm new to IOS after being on Android forever so learning every time I pick the phone up which I enjoy but for the life of me am stuck as to why something so simple as this highligted problem isn't a given when so many apps have the feature therefore thought I was going nuts; again

However if you delete the Apple weather app, and replace it with the BBC (or other reputable) one, you are not using any extra memory / load than previous.

My point above was that you get the same / better functionality without installing yet another app / consuming memory etc, which seems to be what you would like to do.David_M said:

Which is exactly what I do. Whilst I have the app installed I always use the BBC web browser version as I actually prefer the layout. It’s much easier to read and view the forecasts.Ham_and_Jam said:

Thanks for that H&J. . . . I didn't know that; everyday a school day. However if you delete the Apple weather app, and replace it with the BBC (or other reputable) one, you are not using any extra memory / load than previous.
As I mentioned I've just come across to Iphone from Android and if I were to do that on Android it would simply re-install the app in the background thus end up with 2 weather apps.
Just out of curiosity while we are on the topic, do the same rules apply for all Apple apps my Iphone came with?
Cheers

You can delete altogether or 'off load' which leaves a very small amount of your data on the phone so that when the app is reinstalled, it remembers you. I tend to delete the big apps as I don't really use Keynote, or Numbers (for example) or Garage Band (not sure if that's on phones) or the movie making one. You can easily reinstall them from the web store for free if you find you ever need them.As I mentioned I've just come across to Iphone from Android and if I were to do that on Android it would simply re-install the app in the background thus end up with 2 weather apps.

I find Ventusky, used by some of the daily papers, is one of the most reliable. Huge amount of detail once you drill down into the sub-menus. Radar map (EURAD data) for 90 mins ahead seems as good as Darksky but less prone to disappearing just when you want it; doesn't though give alerts eg drizzle starting in 15 mins. Sun and moon phases is nice - depressing to see how the sun reaches only 23 degree altitude here in the south-east. And very easy to pan around the globe to see weather where you're about to travel to. From memory was around £3 one off payment. As a cyclist it's my go-to weather app.
