Recommend me a 4G router
Discussion
Currently have Virgin broadband only, 50mb, costing £25 a month but it's coming up to a year and going up to £37.
I'm not a gamer, I'm old, watch a bit of streaming stuff, browse and email.
To be honest 12mb in my old flat was fine.
I get a good 4g signal in my current flat and despite Virgin offering me £20 a month but on an 18th month contract I'm probably moving soon and don't want to add further to my problems by making sure the new place is in a Virgin area.
So a router with a few LAN ports and WiFi plus a sim that doesn't cost more than £25 a month.
Is that possible. Cheers.

Only a mad man would have being in a particular service provider's area as a key criteria for moving house. Especially when you're only going to have a fraction of an 18mth contract to consider (if you've not even started moving yet, you're going to have an absolute max of 15mths)
Fibre broadband will have much more consistent speeds than 4G. 4G works well, but unlimited data bundles are going to be at least £20 (I pay £24 with EE. At the time I took this out, 3 were £20. No other provider was worth considering).
A good quality 4G router will be around £200 (Huawei B818 is the pick of the bunch).
If it were me, I'd stick with the fibre broadband you have.

Haha. It's more I'm worried about accepting the £20 a month 18 month contract then finding another flat next week or within 2 months.
It's rental to a rental and I've done it 5 or 6 times in 8 years so well aware of the cost of moving.
Nothing compared to selling a place and buying another.
Just thought that with a 4g router I won't have to worry about moving around, changing contracts, moving to an area the provider doesn't service etc.
Still then there is the problem of varying 4g signal I suppose.

5G routers are available, but over double the price from what I've seen - was large irrelevant here as we'll probably get 5G sometime in 2100....but likely still before fibre.
That said, I get a steady 45mpbs at lease generally on download. Upload has been on a 3-5mbps go slow lately (from a 10-12mbps highest). But it's all workable for adults working from home and young kids wearing YouTube and Disney+ out.

I have a Teltonika RUT950 currently configured for failover. Loads of configuration options and a really strong signal.
