workstation and monitor setup what to get?
Discussion
looking at upgrading out taxi offices dispatch stations,
currently they run mac minis and 2x27" 1080p monitors each which whilst adequate could always do with a bit of improvement in terms of desktop real estate.
we're in the process of moving offices and will have a bit more space to play with for a dedicated dispatch area so we're looking to do it once do it right.
the mac minis whilst absolutely fine will need swapped out for us to go triple display 2014 c2d mac minis on Big sur but the only software running is chrome (our dispatch software is fully browswer based. outlook and excel/office365 and whatsapp/xinix so nothing intensive.
we would ideally like to stay mac due to everyone being familiar with them and well they just work in our experience.
current options are
retain the existing macs and switch the displays out for dual 40" 4k displays not ideal as i understand they only offer up to 30hz at 4k so probably swap the macs out for something newer maybe M1 mac minis
soooo. Mac mini M1 with 2x 4k 40" displays or mac mini with a bit of faffing and 3x 1440p 32" displays triple display on the M1 macs is a bit of a faff and is not officially supported by apple but easy to do, can anyone suggest a supported option for us to go triple display and remain apple?

Sure but you'll hate it - 14" M1 MacBook Pro will drive 4 external displays. Are you short of screen resolution, or physical display size? 32" 2560 x 1440 screens would give you a useful amount more of both and aren't too challenging to drive.
