Cheap Laptop From Amazon
Discussion
I need a laptop for use at home, don't need anything high powered as will just be used for web browsing etc. This seems very cheap https://www.amazon.co.uk/Notebook-Computer-Windows...
I don't change computers that often so is this going to be a decent enough spec?

Looks a bit suspect, maybe I'm missing it but I cannot see any actual information on the manufacturer for that.I don't change computers that often so is this going to be a decent enough spec?
If you are just web browsing then go chromebook.
I don't fancy the rating. Or the brand.
Better to search "refurbished laptops" and pick a second hand business Dell or HP or Lenovo from someone with 4 stars.
Something like this i5, 8GB, 256GB SSD

If you can wait then the main Black Friday to start then you might be able to get a very good deal on Amazon, though a great deal on one day may prove to not be as good as a better one on the next, which happened to me 5-6 years back when I replaced my laptop this way (newer and more powerful version of the one I bought appeared for only slightly more the next day - I should have cancelled mine and bought the better one - fortunately the one I got still does me well).

That's me - I've bought a few refurbished Lenovo i5 or i7 processor laptops over recent years (usually with 16GB minimum and SSDs) with Windows 10 built in, very reliable, solid performers with a lot of features despite being a few years old. I'd much prefer those than a strange, unnbranded 2 star laptop for similar money.Better to search "refurbished laptops" and pick a second hand business Dell or HP or Lenovo from someone with 4 stars.

I purchased a Asus M3 Chromebook during Lockdown 1.0, for the kids to use for school work and Teams. Cost around 300 quid and it surprised me how good it is, so much so that it's become the main machine anyone in the house goes to. For web browsing, light office duties, emails, media then Chromebook works brilliant.

If I wanted to open Excel spreadsheets on a chromebook would that be a problem?
Not at all. You can probably do it on your phone, too.https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/24814...
