Tired of paying for stuff and getting terrible service.

- Any new computer came last few years. Top prices, utter gash product. Cyberpunk and BF2024 I’m talking about you.
- Mobile phone signal. Driving round my mid size city ring road and phone cuts out 2-3 times in a 10 min conversation. Same with 4G/5G. Just because it says it on your phone, means nothing.
- Internet, I live on outskirts of above mentioned mid size city. Can’t get decent coverage upstairs. Log in to account to buy a booster ‘Due to unprecedented demand our booster units are over subscribed’.Yes, because your service is absolutely st.

I don’t have time to be chasing these companies. Just provide the service paid for by customers.

Plan B - go and live in a log cabin in the woods where the deer and the antelope play. Much nicer! I don't think it's good that 'tech' and the internet have taken over every facet of human existence in just 20 years.

That would be the dream!

Totally agree - I used to like iPhones due to the solid reliability of the OS, but lately iOS 15.1 is flaky as hell. Then I pay for Apple's top-tier subscription and the facking News app STILL spams me endlessly with adverts. And, also very annoying, I have picked the news sources I wish to read and it shows other sources as a big empty box saying something like 'You don't subscribe to the Express feed. READ ANYWAY?' gah!

The max broadband speed we can get is 19Mbps, and our average is 7Mbps. Of course, we do live in the middle of nowhere. Oh, wait, no we don't - we live in a middle-class commuter town right in the middle of Sussex between London and Brighton! Then on the rare occasions I do watch stuff, the st streaming keeps falling over and then forces you to rewatch the same annoying advert for some terrible show you would never watch over and over and over...

5G? Ho ho ho, very good Sir, maybe speak to the year 2026 about that.

I do live in the arse end of nowhere and am currently getting 8Mbps.
Just how high a definition do you really need your pornography to be?

4k requires a minimum of about 35 Mbps, why have a 4k TV if you can't actually watch anything streaming in 4k on it? Also, who watches porn on their TV?! I haven't since the 90s.

Explain ?

Unless you have perfected virtual porn where the viewer is involved in the sweaty squelchiness
how else can you access 2D porn but on a screen ?

Good question.
The number of times I've been at a friend's showing off their massive TV with some carefully selected content, only to then flick onto what they actually want to watch and it looks ste.
That's the problem, content is always behind the tech.

4K was never needed... if the Bandwidth required by 4k was used to send HD pictures with less compression there would be no need ... but 4K serves 2 purposes - it gets people to spend money on new TVs and gives broadcasters an excuse to charge more money for a service.

Uncompressed Video looks amazing - the only place most people will encounter it is in TV showrooms where it is played in a continuous loop to make the TV sets look fantastic.

We're getting to the point where even bigger TVs won't fit in people's houses so as more content becomes available in higher definitions it will be less of a problem.

Just measured my TV for a giggle: 21 inches! hehe
If I want beautiful big screen high definition images I'll look out the fooking window!

Good question. Sitting by the window facing towards the city of London, location 30 minutes by a slow train to Waterloo. Getting 2/4 bars according to the phone.

When I'm standing outside my tennis club in Epsom (walking distance of Epsom town centre... and I'm lazy), I'm getting 0 or 1 bars.

It wouldn't be so bad if they said they couldn't guarantee anything "sign up but the signal's a bit hit and miss even inside the M25!" but they don't state this clearly so you expect a decent service. It'd basically be like one of my clients paying to see me then I turn up and just spend the hour playing on my phone... or just don't bother turning up.

Arent you confusing 'WiFi' with 'internet'. I realise that a lot of people (ridiculously) refer to any sort of wire-free internet connection as 'wifi', but your ISP is responsible for getting 'the internet' to your house: getting it to the bathroom wirelessly is nothing to do with them...

- Loo Brush, two part handle which is decorative only.
- Microwave which rusts internally 18 months into owning it. (no good ones in stock when needed suddenly)
- Stainless steel cheese grater, which also rusts within a year.
- Travel mug which leaks, and the takes two to get the lid off again.
- Toasters which are smaller than a piece of bread.
- Headlight bulbs which only last three weeks.

A lot of it is half the price it should be, or cheaper, but when its the only option buying two doesnt help it lasting 1:10th of the time it should!

The majority supply routers with built in wifi, which most people use, and a large amount of them are st.

Clearly you don't have laptops in your house? Laptops are not TVs.

Sticks.

Really? I thought they claimed it was good for 150m https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6shIUAIKTCc Or maybe just to a helicopter.

My wifi range was poor but a mesh system made a significant difference https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07RRWL39N/ref... though it did piss me off spending more money when they claim it shouldn't need it.

Ring doorbell still doesn't work, and the Roberts iStream 3 loses connection most times I use it though luckily my ancient phone doesn't.

Hardly using my new PC as it's so slow, and freezes if left for 10 mins. These issues are made worse by rarely being able to get through to someone who'll help put them right so I'm probably going to have to spend a lot more time via some online 'chat'.

If new cars were as unreliable as new IT we wouldn't put up with it.

Microwave? Panasonic's been the best I've ever had.

My point is I want it to work, and work reliably not have install a mesh, or buy a new router because the one I have is useless!

For all those with wifi issues, have you chosen to run it on a channel that is the least used? It makes a difference.
