Hi all,

My son wants a set of airpods for christmas however he has an android phone. Just read that although the airpods will work with an Android phone many of the functions that make the airpods so good wont work.

Can someone recommend a good set of ear phones that will provide the same level of functionality on Android that airpods provide to Apple ?

I like the Galaxy buds but there are loads of different options, what's the budget?

There are some good options here. The Sony ones get a good write up.

I've got Samsung Galaxy buds that came free with my phone, they're very good.

I'd take a look at the Sony WF-1000XM3s or the Galaxy Buds live. The Galaxy Buds come in lots or different colours as well.

Been through loads of earbuds in the last year, and an android user. Currently have soundpeats T2, which are active noise cancelling, and I really like them, only feature they don't have, is skip backwards on a track, but I can do that via my activity watch, sound through them is really good, and the noise cancelling, and pass through features work well, pretty cheap too.

Just make sure he doesnt want them becaue they are trendy .... There are much better sounding headphones than the Airpods but my daughter wasnt interested mind you she does have an iPhone.

I think you're right, part of the want for airpods is that everyone else in his group have them. :-)

I dont like Apple so my house is Android hence this question :-)

I did try my best to explain to her how much better the competition sounded... I have some Sony and Bose buds which she listened to... Not interested.

She has upgraded to Pro's and they do sound much better.

Sure there was a similar thread last Christmas on this subject.

If they want AirPods, get them AirPods - youre going to make them a social pariah getting them an equivalent - talk of other headphones being 'just as good' etc... doesn't matter, its all about the AirPods and being seen with the must-have accessory

All wise words. I can see myself buying Airpods... I so can. :-)

Will discuss today when I pick my son up from school.

Love my Soundcore Liberty Air 2 Pro. Love the fact that I can equalise them to my aging hearing. Sound so much better than my wired Sennheisers as a result.

£110 on Amazon today.

But yes, I guess you will be getting the inferior sounding AirPods hehe

Kids, eh?

I'm on Android and I won some Airpod Pros or Airpods Pro or whatever it is they are.

I tried for ages to sell them on and got nowhere, so I gave up and used them. They work really well and they're better than the Samsung version I also got free with my phone. You probably want the helper and battery life app, Assistant Trigger, and connecting them to an iPhone once in a while for software updates or configuration doesn't hurt either. But you don't have to.

Exactly right, both of my children have iPhones and both of them wanted airpods. I can only imagine seeing the disappointment on their faces if I handed over some other brand and explained how somebody on Pistonheads said they were better.

"That's OK Daddy" would be ringing in my ears as I rushed off to Currys to buy them the airpods as I felt so guilty.

One thing I have learned is always get them what they want even if you know there is a better option out there.
