Hi All,

Last month, my stepson tragically took his own life. My better half would like me to create a presentation that can be played at the wake. She would like a 'video' to be created, which will consist of a series of still digital images which will 'scroll' round - each being displayed for about 10-15 seconds. She has between 2-400 images and she would also like some of his favourite music embedded into the presentation.

A slight difficulty that I have, is that some of the images (especially those from iPhones) are of very high resolution - which is unnecessary for this purpose. I could open each image individually in Photoshop and reduce the resolution, but that would take ages.

I created a 'trial' MP4 presentation with PowerPoint, with an image per page and music embedded; the music played fine, but I couldn't get the images to scroll around (?) - it stayed on the first slide.

The venue for the wake, have told us that they can play MP4 files from a memory stick -

I was wondering, is there an easy to use piece of software which would enable me to create a video comprising still images to a background of music ?

I don't mind buying some software - so long as it is easy to use.

(I have a couple of PCs and laptops - with Windows 7 and Windows 10)

Any suggestions as to how I might easily achieve this task and which software I might use, would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

I am very sorry for your loss.

This is really easy to achieve with the standard Windows Video Editor app. Just drag in your photos, choose a slideshow speed, drag in the audio file, and it does all the rest for you.

Thank you for your kind message.

I've tried using Windows Video Editor, but when I try to stand jpg files from a USB stick, it says "these files have properties that can't be read, so we couldn't add them'. (?)

If you can get hold of Lightroom you should be able to batch resize the images, or you can set up Photoshop to batch resize them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_U68MQKQljs
