When i last updated my pc i lost all my i tunes (old computer crashed) files but i have everything on my ipod so no problem i thought !
I loaded itunes onto the new pc , updated my ipod and tried to sync but it wouldn't work . I have googled this and it warns that any songs not uploaded from itunes will be erased if i do manage to sync it . This would amount to many hundreds of tracks and albums copied in to itunes from my cd collection .
I'm getting fairly pi**ed off now after a year or more of only having my itunes store downloaded music on my PC, this magically appears no problem on my PC, ipod and iphone .
What i really want to do is transfer all my songs from my ipod into itunes on my pc .
Anyone have any knowledge on this subject ? .
I'm somewhat paranoid about losing files off my ipod , it was a long painstaking process uploading all those cd's
Thanks . Dave.

Have you backed up your music to an external hard drive?

You may have realised that i'm not that savvy on this subject.

I'd reload iTunes. Then reimport my music (if necessary) via the file add folder to library (before connecting ipod)

But! Ensure you've backed up your music library (which I'm sure you have)

I vaguely remember using something called Sharepod to grab songs off an Ipod and import them back into Itunes.

I'm too lazy for all that now and just use Apple Music but it looks like it still exists.

I was just coming back to say software is available. I also remember copying my files back individually from an ipod. But, as said before syncing!

Always love how people like to kick someone when they are already down in this respect. Everyone knows full well that they are supposed to back their files up, but one just becomes blasé about not doing so because you never lose your data.....but then all of a sudden you do!. At which point someone will always ask if you backed it up. Lol!

Having had a PC crash 6 or so months ago and a back-up that was two months out of date, I used this YouTube video as the basis for setting up my ITunes from my IPod https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwIG4-oJzdU The two things I know that I did differently were firstly to change my PC settings to display hidden files from the outset (I think he was doing it file by file) and secondly I copied the 'Music' folder off my Ipod onto my PC an then ejected it prior to opening iTunes just in case anything went awry.

Not intended that way! Intended to mean do it now before you sync.
