I have just changed my old 15" MBP for a new 13" MBP and miss the extra size.

I'm think go adding a monitor to my desk in the office. Any advice?

I mainly used it for spreadsheets and CAD.

My new MBP only has USB-C

Thanks.

I have a 2021 MBP 13 inch and use a HP E273Q. It's not the cheapest or flashiest but its a lovely screen, its QHD 1440p so its a really sharp image and its non reflective. It replaced 2x very old HP 24" 1080p screens which my wife now uses in her home office, the HP Elite Display products last forever.

One thing to be aware of is the M1 13" MBP can only really support 1x external screen. My only regret is that I wish I had gone for an ultra wide or the 32" version of what I have as every now and again when I have 2 or 3 big spread sheets open it gets cluttered, I would have just gone and got another screen but you can't with the new MBP. I can use sidecar to use the iPad or Apple TV but its not the same.

While I generally dislike DisplayLink, for spreadsheets it is probably a good way to add another screen on an M1 MacBook, and the single device adapters (as opposed to a full blown dock and obviously you'd leave your existing external monitor connected "properly") are not terribly expensive.

I have a LG Electronics UHD 27UN83A 27 Inch Monitor IPS 4K (3840x2160) for my M1 MBA and it’s excellent, especially the single usb-c cable.

With your username, you clearly need a curved Dell monitor…

I use the previous version of this with my MBP using the USB-C input: https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/dell-ultrasharp-38...

Or for less cost, use a USB to HDMi cable and https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/dell-34-curved-mon...

Perfect for big spreadsheets or two applications side-by-side

You can use an iPad as an extra screen if you need a temporary fix or possibly as a third screen. I haven’t used it as a third but works ok for short periods or if you have something simple on it like teams to free up main screens.

Me too, and yes it’s great - but, the USB ports on the monitor are feeble in terms of power and throughput, unless I’m doing something wrong.

I have an LG 38WN95C-W which has thunderbolt and charges the laptop.

I looked at ultrawides but I really wanted more vertical pixels (many have 1440).

Personally I love the LG Ergo displays. I’ve got this and it’s bloody brilliant for the money… https://www.cclonline.com/product/lg-ultrafine-32u...

It’s massive, clear and crisp, works great with my 14inch MacBook Pro.

I’m actually eBaying my previous display which is this one; https://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-27qn880 (Ends Sunday night but won’t post the link)

Not seen you online for a whole dude!

I’ve also got a 14” MBP, mine is connected up to a Philips 279P monitor - 27” 4K USB-C, with a network port.

I was tempted by this (32inch 4k)as well. Reviews on it are good and the arm makes a huge difference to ergonomics. In the end my reliance on reading text is making me lean towards a 2k 32 inch panel.

Lol. I guess if you did post the link and one of us bid on it and won, we’d know your real name, where you lived and your contact tel.

Ha, I didn't know you'd moved to the 14", I also haven't posted it on Instagram as I haven't told the other half I've changed from last years M1 13" smile
