I'm changing mobile phone network from Three UK to Plusnet (EE) and porting my number. The process is much easier than the last time I did it and just involved a text to get a PAC code and a short procedure on Plusnet's website.

Seems to have been progressing - SIM supposedly sent out a couple of days ago and told my number was being ported today. I assumed my phone would keep working as my contract with Three runs until 17th Dec or so.

However, suddenly realised I have no phone coverage - can't even used WiFi calling. No Plusnet SIM yet (could take up to 5 days apparently). I have managed to get into my plusnet account but that was no mean feat as it didn't tell me customer number was my username and I had no password so had to go through password recovery which seemed odd.

Anyway, is this normal procedure? I'm going to give them a call but it doesn't seem right that it can go ahead without my SIM turning up and that Three can stop providing me service given that I'm paid up until later in the month (which seems sharp practice anyway, unless they credit me with the early termination)...

Plusnet doesn't support wifi calling. It's cheap for a reason. I went back to O2 pretty quickly.

Suspect your number has been moved over from 3 to plusnet.

Do you need Wi-fi calling?

What plan have you gone for?

I'd not seen that. Annoying. But got to be better than the miserable coverage I've had on three UK. And it's a rolling 30 day contract so I can bin them off again if necessary. Won't be porting my number until I have the new sim card in my hands though.

What I find weird is why my number isn't going to Plusnet voicemail...

Definately sounds like your number has been ported but you haven't got the sim card yet and had opportunity to activate it which may explain the voicemail issue.

Next time it's advisable to get your new sim card with whatever number they give you then port the old one after.
