My 86 yr old mother loves watching Youtube videos. She is not technical at all. She can switch her smart TV to Youtube and watch what shows up on her home screen and that's it. She can't do search or any like that so she only watches what appears on the Youtube home screen. As you know the home screen is pretty static so she just watches repeats of videos.

What i want to do is be able to setup a Android TV box connect to her TV and be able to 'Mirror' / 'Remote desktop' her Android TV box from my phone and search and play video on the Youtube app or from a browser like Brave running on the Android TV box remotely. So that she can get to watch what she wants by asking me to search and play videos/movies for her. yes, i suspect i will get lots of calls if i pull that off but that's ok.

All this will needs to be done on separate networks remotely like remote desktop from a PC but on Android.

Is there such an app on Android? Is there anything else i can use? I've tried finding something but all the casting apps needs to be done with the same Wifi next work.

My mother thank you in advance.

Can you not just set up a specific YouTube account and use that on both devices? Then what you search for on one appears on the other due to the history. It also will then suggest similar videos to her too. Not sure you can stream real time, but some other workaround may be available.

How recent is her TV? Most have voice search now, just hold down the search button on the remote, wait for a beep, say "hunks in trunks" and she'll be happy til New Years Eve.... wink

Or, set up a playlist/Chuck a load of videos in "Watch Later", that way you can do it for her remotely ( assuming you have the same account, or you can share a playlist between multiple accounts.)

Voice search would seem to be a much easier solution.

1 Set up new account anywhere

2 Choose loads of subscriptions

3 Log into that account on TV

4 Show mum how to go to subscriptions

5 Mum has many hours per day\week of new content

6 For alternative (must see) stuff, log into new account, start to watch it, tell mum where history is on app and it'll be there as last watched for her too.
