I have 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage available with my O365 Family and thought I would use it as a file transfer solution to migrate some photo archives from one machine to another...

With fibre broadband at home, it seemed to work quite well and I almost filled the 1TB with transfer speeds that were acceptable.

I'm now trying to repeat the process but it is taking an absolute age to upload and seems to get stuck.

Restarting my MacBook speeds it up briefly..

Any ideas what the constraint is? Is it possible that they don't want you to use it as a file transfer solution and there is a quota of data that they let you pass through it?

There doesn't appear to be a good way of monitoring upload speeds...

P.S. I have deleted the stuff I had previously uploaded (and emptied the bin) but perhaps it takes more time to purge and the issue is that MSFT thinks I am over my 1TB limit...

If you're going machine to machine on the local network, why not share the folder you want to copy, and do it that way?

Especially if you can manage a wired connection for at least one of the machines it is likely to be dramatically faster.

One of the advantages of Dropbox is that it will do local updates via the network, rather than go via the internet connection, if two machines are on the same network. It doesn't thelp the OP though.

Would have used my Thunderbolt cable but new machine is TB3...

Not sure why it is proving to be so hard to get all my Macs to talking to each other over the same home network over WiFi, but it continues to defeat me!

You're presumably using file sharing and trying by IP address? Worst case, enable SSH access and use SFTP.
