Amazon Music HD v Apple Music

For anyone who maybe interested I've been with Amazon Music then the HD service for about 2 years but switched to Apple Music last week. Very surprised that the majority of tracks sound much better on the Apple Service.
Interesting.... I have studiously avoided Apple Music as I don't like such a heavily curated ecosystem, I don't use their photo storage either.I use Spotify because I like the interface and it's in my Tesla, but also Amazon HD through a proper hifi streamer and speakers.
I rarely hear the difference between Spotify and Amazon HD - but I am getting older (am old) so I'm probably never going to.

Sooner Spotify get that hd version out the better!I use Spotify because I like the interface and it's in my Tesla, but also Amazon HD through a proper hifi streamer and speakers.

I'm currently trying Apple Music, and have been quite impressed.
Long term Spotify user, so really hoping they get their finger out and sort out their "Hi-Fi" offering soon
What has made you conside the switch? I'm in a similar position, having just moved from Android to Apple. Looking at subscription cost-downs/consolidations.Long term Spotify user, so really hoping they get their finger out and sort out their "Hi-Fi" offering soon

I use AirPods and the iPhone when I'm out walking or going for a run, so I thought I'd see if it was any better. Last time I tried it had a very poor selection - that's certainly no longer the case.
Front end seems a bit nicer, but fewer "social" aspects (collaborative playlists) from what I can see. Apple Music doesn't seem to play as nicely with Alexa either.
The Apple Music lossless does sound better than Spotify to my ears. That said, Spotify Duo is £12.99pcm, and we'd have to move to the Apple family plan, which is £2pcm.
I also think that Apple Music works better in the CarPlay scenario that Spotify.

Got a free trial, and thought I'd give the Lossless stuff a go.

Nice, thank you. The social aspects aren't a thing for me, just music collectoin breadth and ease of use really. Is there a typo in your Apple Family Plan price? If not, seems rather good value!I use AirPods and the iPhone when I'm out walking or going for a run, so I thought I'd see if it was any better. Spotify has thousands of user created playlists, so for example if a particular compilation/mix album isn't on the platforms, someone will compile a playlist with the same songs in the same order.Same with artist playljsts, tidal/apple will have created a playlist for an artist, but on Spotify users will have made all kinda playlists e.g. Artist A r&b songs, Artist A 1980-1990, Artist A 2000-2010, Songs where Artist A features and so on.
On sound quality, on phone speaker it doesn't matter, I also Bluetooth stream to hifi rather than wired/streamer. Tidal/apple on max is better than Spotify.
I tend to look for the best deal at the time, currently on Apple as got 6 months free but not attached to any of them. Spotify free gets you Joe Rogan podcast.
It's shocking and puzzling as to why Spotify have failed to make their library lossless. Baffling strategy

Ah, I hadn't realised that many of those were user-created. I had interpreted it as "Hey person on the other side of the room, add to my tracklist please". That gives me a new perspective! IIRC, both Spotify and Apple music are £9.99 on individual plansLooking at the web Spotify Duo is now £13.99 pcm (could have sworn we were paying £12.99 I will check) - this gives the two of us separate accounts, although Alexa use does pollute her account with my music

Apple Music Family is £14.99pcm - so only £1 difference. This gives lossless and up to 6 accounts (pointless when there are two of you in the house
)Given it's only £12 a year difference for lossless I'll look even more closely. Perhaps I can use 1 of the 6 accounts for dedicated Alexa / Sonos use...?
Hmm.
