Cat6 in 100+meter rolls
Discussion
If you actually want it to pass Cat6, read up a bit on installation practices first, otherwise it won't perform at Cat6 levels. If your builders tread on it, drop stuff on it or put ladders on it etc. you will need to bin it and start again. You also need to watch things like bend radii and installation pull poundage. Oh, and don't expose more than 13mm of twist either. In a word, treat the cables like eggs and you won't go far wrong.
Here is a good starting point.

Very useful site Blairout, i didn't know that cable could be so sensitive.
Everyone that i've spoken to say that if i'm having new cables installed, might be best to go for CAT6 to future proof it. As i was thinking of setting up a music and video server and having it pumped around the house, it seemed like the best idea.
Also thanks for the other sites guys. I assume that 2 boxes (of 300meters) should be ok for what i want (i hope).

It *might* be an idea to consider running fibre in at the same time if you really want to "future proof". With bandwidth going the way it is it could become essential in a short while. If you don't want that expense at the mo, just make sure that while you have the fabric of the building available you put draw wires in.... And test they work before you seal her up!
