Hi All,

Both my daughter and I have a HP6950 printer and when I bought hers there was a deal on cartridges where I bought in bulk.

Fast forward and she is replacing four cartridges with a date on of 0ct 2020 with genuine HP replacements with the same date and it is saying they are older.

It would appear that HP in their desire to force people to use their extortionately priced ink service and stop refillables being used, have altered settings to differentiate by age on cartridges so that you have to buy them less than two years, seems to be the guide and to stop refillables

HP so far unhelpful so anyone know how to get around this. Cannot see anything on line to suggest a way around this

Thanks in advance for any help

I threw my HP printer in the skip for a similar reason & replaced it with a Canon which is happy to run on Office World cartridges for quarter of the price.

Knackers to all that, Spend a little more on the printer and get an Epson EcoTank or similar.

No more cartridges. Ever.

+1.

After buying 3 inkjet printers over the last 10 years and ALL of them never working for various reasons when I needed them to due to ink ageing, ink drying, having to change all catridges when 1 colour was low, etc.., etc... I finally cracked and kicked the last one across the room and threw it in the bin, in pieces.

Bought a Brother Laser Printer to replace, which uses toner cartridges. A revelation, had it about 2 years now. It just does what a printer is supposed to do, print when you need it to, first time, everytime.

I replaced the original catridges a few months back with E-bay specials, perfect, I don't suppose I'll need to worry about that again for a good few years as the non-OEM catridges are high capacity rated to thousands of pages for each colour.

I remember the HP inkjet printer I had as the worst for finding an excuse NOT to print. Like the black ink being low, so printer wouldn't even try and print using the other colours as workaround, or it telling me my ink had 'expired' and I needed to replace the cartridges, etc.. I think that was the second of the 3 inkjets I had, it also finally got booted around the room, shot up in the garden with an air rifle and then binned.

Inkjets - hateful things. biggrin
