I’ve had my canon MG4150 inkjet printer a few years. Aside from costing a small fortune on ink it’s been ok.

However the printer display is saying it’s out of ink and that the ink absorber is almost full. The ink is expensive enough so I can’t imagine buying a new ink absorber is worth doing.

I also can’t see specific guidelines on what to do to fix this, so before I buy new ink is the printer now basically disposable and should I recycle it and buy a new one ?

Thanks

Many Years ago I used to replace the Pads and reset the Waste Ink Counter with Manufacturer Software.

The Pad is a large block(s) in the Base of the Printer. Not the little Pads in the YouTube Link.
The Printer will probably need to be taken apart to access them.
Pads may not be available/economical.

You can reset and not replace.
There is a risk that the Waste could overflow at some point.

Probably not worth it.
If you don't need Colour, a small Mono Laser is better for Home Users. Brother recommended.

It does sound like a load of effort and for the average user (me included) it probably renders the machine obsolete which seems useless ahead of time
