One for the Unifi experts on here I think! biggrin

I've had Unifi kit at home for a few years now, and I've been very happy with it. The setup includes a USG, 2x AP and a PoE switch, plus a Gen1 Cloud Key to manage it.

Unfortunately, the Cloud Key decided to stop working and after much messing and time wasted, I had to resort to a factory reset as a last resort. I then restoring the config from one of the auto-backups.

I assumed this would get me back where I was previously, however it seems something is amiss as I can no longer manage any of the hardware - they all come up with 'Managed by another console' from within the app on my phone and the portal.

Any thoughts on what I've done wrong? Some Googling seems to suggest a need to reset all the other devices(!) but that seems madness!

Any help will be much appreciated! biggrin

You should be able to 'Force Adoption' from the maintenance section of the device, but you might need to have the SSH password for each of them for it to work.

This I'm afraid, I had a Cloud Key Gen 1 die and had to reset everything (fortunately I had the SSH details). I switched to a RaspberryPi which is way more reliable and I can run pi-hole too. The other advantage is that I can backup the SD card in case I need to roll-back an update.

Thanks all.

I've made some progress ... !

Did a reset again and restored the backup of the cloud key, then logged in to the controller which asked me if I wanted to restore a backup too. Didn't get that last time and it seems that was the problem!

All back running as it should and showing correctly in the mobile app and on the portal. Leaving it a few days and then revisiting the problem seems to have helped, I guess I was having a bad day when I tried the first time! biggrin

Now to update the firmware on all the devices - which is where this whole exercise started, and how I knew the CK had stopped working in the first place!

And yet I had the same issue with a rpi. I had the unifi controller setup on one and it went tits up which caused me a whole world of headache trying to get it back running again.
