Panasonic NS700 - any experience? (firmware updates, etc)

Hi,
I've got a Panasonic NS700 that I'm looking to get a KX-UT670 phone working on. I took the phone in to the office and was able to get it registered, but it still shows "Fault" in the WebMC of the NS700, and no dial tone or anything. I have no idea if it is a licensing issue - I have not bought any additional licences for the unit, and I don't know what the phone is classed as for the purposes of licensing.
I should add that I have a KX-HDV230 SIP phone that is working fine with the system. I note that this phone appears on the "Standard SIP Phone" page, whereas the UT670 appears on (in theory anyway) "SIP-MLT".
Also - I am looking to upgrade the firmware on the unit, which has never been updated as far as I know. The various guides for adding UT phones etc mention parts of the WebMC that I don't even have. The version we're running at the moment is: 004.22016 (4.22 revision 016?)
I have found a PFMPR_008_300_470 file on a Panasonic users forum which looks like it is the right file to use and would upgrade it to 8.30 revision 470, assuming it would work...
Is it enough just to install this one file to upgrade the unit? Is that all I need to do? I have a PEXPS_009_000_045 file which I have no idea what it is for.
And yes - I ought to leave this up to the company that support the phone system, but they are glacial at responding to support queries and have basically cut off all direct technical contact with engineers, and are trying to charge for every request that we make even though we're already paying them a decent amount per month.
