Hi,

Is it possible to remain active in a few groups on Facebook but for all intents and purposes remove myself so "friends" would no longer see me on Facebook or be able to tag me? I would like to delete Facebook but there are 2 groups which are important to me from a work perspective so would like to stay active on those.

Is that possible? Cheers!

Setup a gmail account and sign up to facebook with a fake name and join the 2 groups.

You can do both of those things from your settings. (Preventing tagging & being seen online by friends etc)

Would it work if I change my name on there and just remove a letter or two from my first and sir names? In terms of stopping people "finding" me etc, that way I wouldn't have to rejoin the groups?

Cheers.

Not fully. Searching for John Brown may also flag up Jon Browne and the likes.

I'd use your own name (if not too distinctive) and leave the profile as empty as possible or put false info in. Maybe a generic scenery profile photo.

Just remove every friend apart from what you need. Then if you get fresh requests just ignore them or tell them you use FB for only very limited reasons.

I changed my name as I want to do the same as you, they suspended my account and wouldn’t reactivate it unless I sent photo ID!

I removed 350 “friends” over Christmas and the only people who noticed were genuinely those I had forgotten about or hadn’t seen in years

The only reason I “Need” Facebook is for Oculus, thankfully after they rebranded they seem to be enabling decoupling of accounts but it’s a faff, and it’s a faff by design.

use a second fake account, only issue with that is people can clearly see its a fake account when all the pictures are of cats or cars. Look at 99% of the accounts that post arguments on news sites etc.

Never have real pictures.
