These are all 240vAC to 12vDC although I didn't go past page 1.

The OP is wanting 240vAC to 12vAC

They are difficult to find - I've had a similar requirement myself (for a 12vAC 1A unit) - I did eventually find one on Amazon.

OP I found this one on Ebay it's 12vAC 5A which will be fine.

I’ve spent ages looking at the maker / the states / online - it’s over 20 years old and they went DC about 15 years ago.

It’s a la z boy Oasis if you fancy a challenge.
The psu company doesn’t seem to exist now

Have a look at door entry direct

Loads of intercom systems use 12v ac power, just use one of them , 3amp or higher will be fine

That's no good - it's only 3va(3w)

V*A=W - so 12v * 250mA = 3W

Therefore at 250mA it falls far short of the 3A rating the OP requires.

are you sure it’s faulty or non repairable? An an ac to ac adapter is going to be a simple transformer which never fail. I would be checking the continuity of the high and low voltage sides and if there’s a glass fuse inside it (which would only blow of there’s a downstream fault)

Doesn’t say it’s AC, but if it’s a transformer alone it would be (or cut the rectifier out)

It’s knocking out 2.3v not 12v and getting too warm. It’s a sealed unit (I think) I’ll recheck

is 2.3v when it’s not plugged in? (no load) - does sound knackered.
i edited my post with a suggested psu

It’s 2.3v and too warm when not plugged into the chair. I got a good spark to confirm I hadn’t set the meter wrong!

Op I think you are searching for the wrong thing, 12v ac transformer gives a number of options

This in 50w guise should do the trick
https://www.lumenalights.com/shop/product/12v-wate...

Or these chassis mount transformers though you might want to budget for a case depending how it mounts to the chair 50 va’s is the minimum if you want a 3a output

Just to add I might have overspec’d the va’s / w needed to get your output it’s been many years since I had to design ac psus

Whatever you choose use a 3a inline fuse on the output just in case…

It is AC, you can see it printed on the transformer housing in the pictures. Also, at 12V 6A (72Va) output, that's damn good value for £24 !
