I've just fitted a new Samsung 200gb drive set to 'slave'. The OS is Win XP Pro and the drive is detected in the bios but it doesn't register in Windows Explorer. I have tried 'add new hardware' and it says the drive is working OK.

Anyone know what I should do next?

Does your PC's bios allow it to use 200GB HDD's? Not sure if this is the same thing as seeing & being able to use it.

Look at what board you have and visit the website for it to check. If not you may need to flash update it.

Have you done the biz in drive management? You'll need to create a volume and format it before you can use the drive in windows. Someone will be along shortly to explain the process far better than i could.

This may well be the problem. It appears to have a 32gb limit

Yes, but it won't permit a partition of 200gb. Will have to follow FWD's advice first I think

What he said, I had the same problem, you have to format the drive in the drive management thingy.
I think you go to control panel- performance and maintanance-Administrative Tools-computer management-disk administration and then format the drive there.I can't remember quite how I did it but it was fairly straight forward but took about an hour. Hope this helps
