New iPad, have i picked the right one?
Discussion
So it needs to apple as everything else in my life is.
I have just bought and am due to collect on Sunday the bog standard iPad 2021 64gb version.
It would be used for magazines, looking at holidays a d both one and two handed internet surfing.
Did i buy the right one?
I have the original 32gb Air which has slowed down but been going strong since release day so was tempted to get the Air, but couldn’t see the benefit vs £300 being worthwhile.
So before i pick it up have i made a smart move or should i cancel and re-order an Air?

For most people it’s more than enough of an iPad. If you are going to use the Apple Pencil a lot then it would be worth getting an Air that can use the nicer Apple Pencil 2. And if you are one of the few people for whom Touch ID doesn’t work well I suppose the Pro with Face ID might be worth it
I would always advocate looking at the apple refurbish site and spending money on there for better hardware instead of buying from the normal retail site.
But for all intents and purposes the modern iPads are great and will last you years or basic use. I’m writing this from my 2018 iPad Pro that is a great bit of kit despite being a few years old and not the latest and greatest.

I don't think you realise how lucky you've been there. I ordered one in December and it's not due to turn up for a couple of weeks. If you order for delivery on Apple right now, they're quoting a middle of March delivery.
Whatever you do, don't cancel. If you don't want it you can sell on eBay for a profit.

Ha ha yes, I ordered my daughters in October, got a cellular one on Amazon for £319 rather than £419 and it arrived on 21 December. When I saw what they were selling for on Ebay she nearly didn't have a Xmas present! Whatever you do, don't cancel. If you don't want it you can sell on eBay for a profit.
I did notice the delivery date was about 13th March. Day before yesterday they had non in My closest store and all the other Argos, Currys, John Lewis had sold out. Yesterday it said ready to collect from Friday so figured in short supply.
Sold my old original air 1st gen for £40 so £280 for this new one which should last another 10 or so years.

I find the iPad Air really uncompelling. I need 128GB storage, so would need to buy the 256GB Air model, which is £729. Then I might as well get an iPad Pro 128GB for £749 and the 4 speaker system on that would throughly address the basic iPads speaker which is the worst bit about the experience.
Personally think you did the right thing by going for the standard iPad. Perfect for the sort of use you have in mind for it.
