Old MacBook Air needs new battery
Discussion
2013 MacBook Air, still runs fine, but battery life now annoyingly short and it will die wirhout warning at random points below 20% indicated charge.
So, time for a new battery. Are all the kits on eBay the same? Any positive or negative experiences?
Happy to DIY and not looking to spend official Apple money as its so old. But its a useful and v solid piece of kit so if i can give it a life extension for less than 50 quid then I would like to.

I checked out YT videos already but that's a helpful site as it also specifies bits sizes etc tks.
Yes it does look easy. Money for old rope for the official Apple repairers;)
Any thoughts on batteries themselves? The generic brands seem to vary from ca £25 - £50 and I am wondering if there is any difference in quality. Guessing they all come from the same Chinese battery factories anyway?

I changed the battery in my 2012 Macbook Air and also the black plastic hinge cover at the same time as that had cracked.
I bought a genuine Apple battery for £70 from a seller on the Bay call glowmacltd.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/rapidsource?_trksid=p23...
I used the iFixit guide, it was pretty easy to be honest, you will need a small star drive tool, I can't remember which size, but the guide will tell you.
Mine had been broken for a couple of years prior to that and the charger was also shot, so I replaced that at the same time as doing the battery. All in all cost me around £120 but it was put to good use during lockdown for home schooling so worth it really and it' been fine since then which was around 2 years ago.
