Im looking for a free pop3 email provider, somone who allows you to configure your email client, doesnt add a footer to sent emails, and doesnt charge a signup fee. Dont BT offer a service like this? They have a dozen websites though, not sure which to try first.

Also, does yahoo allow one to create an account, and use it to send pop3 emails (without adding a footer)?

Have you tried Virgin.net? I have two pop3 accounts as not so long ago they didn't have a webmail system.

You can, well you can access Gmail via a POP3 address.

However, its flaky.

I can recieve GMail with Outlook but sending doesnt seem to work, whatever I try.

I've not tried Eudora or Incredimail, these may work perfectly or it may just be my Outlook but there is chat on the web about it...

Unusually, Gmail requires the 'use secure connection' boxes to be ticked as well as logging in to send email. Quite vexatious.

Free = Get what you pay for.

For £4 a month you could have your own hosting account, unlimited pop3, and web, and unlimited mysql and webmail etc

Free is ok if you dont want to rely on it I suppose.

I personally use Bigfoot. It is $19 quarter for 2Gb space. I use it with IMAP on my desktop, laptop and PDA and it works fine. Also mail filter and you can set it to forward to any address if you want. Also has webmail.
