Good Password App
Discussion
Hi All,
I still have my passwords written down and for work especially I use about 20 sites that I need password for (and regularly have to update)
Can anyone recommend a decent, secure password app for my phone? Don't really need it to link to the sites just save me the hassle of looking them up in paper form.
Thanks
RL

Lastpass was excellent, but when it stopped being free across architectures (in my case Windows plus Android) I switched to Bitwarden which is free (for the basic versions), open source and pretty good.Edited by Nimby on Friday 18th February 13:46

iCloud Keychain - built in as standard into every iPhone and accessible on Windows PCs through the iCloud extension.I use a paid app eWallet and it's pretty good but you have to pay a per-computer license (mobile side can be used on as many devices as you like).
I did think about changing and KeePass looked pretty good - free, open source and widely supported across platforms. A bit of confusion between different versions which were not compatible though and had slightly different feature sets.
Also, I had so much stuff in my eWallet that it was going to be a pain to move it all to something else so I have stuck with that for the time being. If I was starting from scratch I'd give KeePass a look though.

I use eWallet on my MacBook and iPhone, it works well. I did think about changing and KeePass looked pretty good - free, open source and widely supported across platforms. A bit of confusion between different versions which were not compatible though and had slightly different feature sets.

You can group your passwords into categories and give each category a name such as bank accounts, bank cards, forums, personal, memberships etc The app bis controlled by a password, and you can sync between devices so if I add a password when using my phone I can sync my MacBook so everything is there.

Another here who moved from Lastpass to Bitwarden. Works seamlessly on PC and Android (though annoyingly it refuses to autofill username for PH on mobile
).
Also turn on 2 factor authentication for sites that support it. I use Aegis on Android to store my keys (other 2FA apps are available).

KeePass - it's cross platform so if you stick your file in the cloud you can use it on multiple machines. Also it's free.
Surprised its taken this long to get a mention. I've sworn by it for years. Most IT Pros I know swear by this one. No central point of failure either, unlike the cloud offerings.Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
