Google's annoying me now (or, perhaps more accurately, my ineptitude with it as I get older).

I have a gate controller that has 24V DC outputs for running "stuff".

I have a wifi doorbell that can be permanently wired up to 24V AC.

Is there a small, reasonably priced gadget that can bring the two together?

I've found this - https://www.powerstream.com/inv-24vdc-24vac.htm - but it doesn't pass the "reasonably priced" requirement. And I don't think I need 40W.

It would probably work on DC anyway - unless it’s got a transformer init which isn’t very likely.

Could you wire the bell up to 24VAC and put it through a relay controlled by the gate controller.
Get a 24VDC relay, wire controller output to coil so it closes NO-Common when activated which will then power bell until output from controller stops.

Something like this :

https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/SR509.html

It’s got the spec sheet bottom right, looks like it takes 0.9VA possibly just need to check controller puts that much out.

I'm not really following unfortunately smile

I have no 24VAC to wire the bell up to...?

Something like this would give you 24VAC

What are you trying to do ? Have the doorbell ring when the gates open?

Thank you for that - I was literally just looking at the same thing as I realised I could take a 240V feed before it goes into the gate controller, and house something like this in the controller case.

I'm trying to have the doorbell (a Eufy 2k battery one - https://anker.force.com/s/article/Hardwire-Your-2K... be wired (effectively), so I don't have to faff around recharging it smile

Can't you just get a 10:1 mains transformer and not rectify it?

I think that's what the Screwfix link does....?

Ah yes indeed. Sorry I didn't click the link. I'd use that - much simpler!

As LordLoveLength already said, it probably will run directly from 24v DC anyway which is even simpler.

More than likely it's designed to accept up to 24v AC as that's what typically will be provided from a normal bell transformer installed in some houses. It probably just has a rectifier, smoothing cap and regulator to run off 5v DC internally, which means it would also work directly on DC.

This rings a bellsmile

Strip the bell down and investigate what voltage runs what
