I have an old Konica MFA printer that I need to temporarily enable for internet access in a building that has no network.
The printer only has an RJ45 network port, no wifi.
If I tether my laptop to my phone I have internet access on my laptop.
Would it work if I connected the printer to my laptop (via the NIC) via a switch so my laptop acted as a router, thus giving the printer internet access?

So Phone>Laptop(via USB or WiFi tether)>small switch>printer = internet access??

You'll need to enable internet connection sharing (google will find numerous guides) on the laptop presuming it runs Windows.

ICS will do a job here for sure.

More generally you can turn any Ethernet capable device into a WiFi capable device with something called a wireless bridge. This for example can do the job. Ethernet into this device then configure this device to connect to your hotspot and it’ll work. Maybe overkill here but it can be useful because you can also plug into a switch and seamlessly connect whole raft of cabled devices to WiFi. Note, I wouldn’t use this particular one in that situation because it’s dead slow.

What are you trying to do - enable yourself to print things from the internet? Or have the printer available over the internet so someone remote can print to it?
