My WD Essentials 3tb external hard drive seems to be on its way out. It’s a back up for pictures on my Mac mini. It’s probably nearly 10 years old so does anyone have recommendations for. 2tb (don’t need 3) SSD to replace it.

Cheers

I love my Samsung T7 touch. The hardware encryption works great.

It is...however, you will only get anywhere near that read speed if the MacMini has a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 port (aka USB 3.2).

Otherwise you'll be limited to 1000MB/s for USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 (aka old USB 3.1 / 10Gbps) or 500MB/s for USB 3.2 Gen 1 (aka the old USB 3.0 / 5Gbps).

If you have one of the slower ports, then just buy the slower and £100+ cheaper model.

It’s a late 2012 Mac mini so guess limited to 1000MB/s. I will probably be upgrading this year so I’ll have a think if it’s worth paying the extra. Thanks
