Don’t flame me but my daughter loves doing YouTube crafts and drawing, and she’s always using her ancient iPad to pretend to do her own YouTube tutorials as well and really wants to uploads some videos, it’s all harmless fun and I can’t imagine anyone watching them but I like the fact that she’s doing them and being very eloquent and confident at that.

Now the iPad has one of those front facing cameras that looks like a millennium vga resolution camera, her iPad also has 16gb of memory which make her delete everything all the time which is annoying.

And yes I would monitor everything on her account like I do now with her iPad. So the safety side is covered

Has anyone else have a daughter into uploading YouTube stuff, could I do it all from a new iPad, would I need a tripod, one of those extra lights that go around the iPad to light up the area and a mic?

Very similar here with a 7yr old

We bought a vlogging setup for our daughter for Christmas that included a ring light on a tripod with a holder, a green screen and a remote to activate the camera and an iPod touch

Seems to do the job just right and the iPod is easier to handle than the full size iPad she was using

I did think about an older phone but I was a bit concerned about her sneaking it and getting addicted to it as it’s easier to alway have it on you.

What does the green screen thing do?

The green screen makes whatever is behind you disappear so you can have effects etc. happening in the background - similar to how they used to do the weather on TV years ago

Loads of free apps that do it too so no additional costs for a basic setup
