Sky Mobile and 5G phones
Discussion
I currently have a OnePlus 8T which I am pretty happy with. The only thing I am not happy with is that it doesn't support 5G on Sky Mobile (O2).
I believe that this is an issue with OnePlus rather than Sky, but I have just read that they only support certain phones on 5G, such as the ones they sell. My wife has an Asus ZenFone 8 which does work with 5G, that according to posts I have seen shouldn't.
I have seen posts reporting that Pixel 6's aren't working with 5G on Sky as well, which adds weight to the above, but my wife's phone detracts from it.
I am considering changing my phone but don't want to end up in a situation whereby I have another device that doesn't work with 5G on Sky. I am otherwise happy with Sky Mobile so don't really see any point in leaving them, but if I am forced to buy a device that they sell, or having to buy a device that is "officially" supported, then I may as well move elsewhere.
Does anyone else here use Sky Mobile and gets 5G, and doesn't have one of the following devices?
5G-ready devices available on Sky Mobile
Apple iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max
Huawei Mate 20 X 5G
Huawei P40 Lite 5G and P40 Pro 5G
Oppo A54 5G
Oppo Find X3 Lite 5G
Oppo Find X3 Pro 5G
Samsung Galaxy A22 5G
Samsung Galaxy A51 5G
Samsung Galaxy A52 5G and A52s 5G
Samsung Galaxy A90 5G
Samsung Galaxy S10 5G and Note10+ 5G
Samsung Galaxy Note20 5G and Note20 Ultra 5G
Samsung Galaxy S20 5G, S20+ 5G, S20 FE 5G and S20 Ultra 5G
Samsung Galaxy S21 5G, S21+ 5G and S21 Ultra 5G
Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ 5G and S7 FE 5G
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G and Z Flip3 5G
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G and Z Fold3 5G
If you do, what device do you have and did you need to do anything special to get 5G working?
Thanks.

I am guessing the limitation is on the frequency that is supported in the phone chipset and the fact O2 is only using certain bands for 5G.
You would need to confirm any phone had the capability to connect to the right frequencies for 5G on O2 in the UK, there shouldn't be any other limitations if you have a 5G enabled contract.

My OnePlus has the 5g commented out apparently, though it is there in my menu. I believe it stems back to when OnePlus phones stopped being sold by O2.
You can hack the phone to get it to work apparently, but it gets undone after a reboot or update from what I can tell.
I just don't want to end up buying a new phone that still won't connect via 5G on Sky / O2 when it does for every other network.
I'm about to renew my mobile contract with Sky hence why I am looking into this currently.
