As my OnePlus 8T won't work with O2 or Sky for 5G (thanks OnePlus) and that the camera isn't that good (but if it worked on 5G I'd be happy with it), I am on the hunt for a new smart phone.

It doesn't need to be the greatest thing ever, but it needs to be Android and it needs to have a good camera and 5G.

I have around £800 to spend, but would prefer to spend less (I can get a Pixel 6 Pro for under £800 through my work).

Any recommendations please? I intend to keep it for at least 3 years If I can.

Only requirements are:

Quick charging
128gb storage min
Amoled screen
Decent camera

I don't mind if it's a no name type phone as long as it does the job.

TIA.

Just had a look at what Xiaomi offer for £600.
You want fast charging?
2-100% in 17 minutes!
And that's with a proper 5,000mAh battery.

Wouldn't touch a Pixel with yours on a stick after reading the thread on here.

No, It's thanks to SKY Mobile your Oneplus 8T doesn't work on their 5G.

And why the Pixel 6 won't either.

I've had a Pixel 6 Pro since launch, and can't fault it really.

Why do you need quick charging? If the battery lasts all day, then slow charge overnight is better for long term battery health.

I'd go for the best Samsung S21/22 that you like in your case, S22 is £769 with free Galaxy Buds Pro.

I'm always going to say Pixel as I live the Vanilla experience, either go 6 or 5.

All the posts I find suggest that you have to hack the phone to get it to work if you're lucky. Not sure how that is Sky's fault?

Thanks everyone, the search continues. The Xioami looks decent but the side finger print scanner puts me off.

Default option, Samsung Galaxy S22 plus. Ticks all your boxes. With a trade in and a corporate discount, it might be near £800. Samsung sometimes do some amazing offers.

I saw the 128GB S21 selling for £469 last year with their various trade ins (was offering £150 for any android phone!) and rebates (£150 cashback) down from £769.

I occasionally deviate from iPhones into the world of Android and was recently tempted with the Xiaomi 11T Pro - I was really impressed with the speed of use and the camera when I messed about with it in the Xiaomi store.

The 11 Lite 5G was excellent too and is currently only £299 on their website:

I ended up ordering a Realme GT2 Pro last night on pre-order.

I think for the money it's hard to beat. Hopefully my faith is repaid!

I would certainly look at this, the trade in is great at the moment.

I bought an S20+ 5G, new via eBay and that was £400, I would recommend that approach too.

You aren’t kidding. The S22 comes with (Fri 11 Mar 2022) £200 minimum trade in, even for a broken phone, free galaxy buds pro and 12 months disney plus. That’s about £200 for those. What a bargain. So the £769 base model effectively has £400 off.
