Overall autocorrect is a good thing. Having fat fingers and not being a teenager who grew up with mobile phones, I make many typing errors.

However what puzzles and annoys me in equal measures is why autocorrect replaces correct words with alternatives.

I know the difference between “were” and “we’re” and when I type the former I don’t mean the latter. Similarly when I write someone is “ill” I don’t mean “I’ll”. And “had” doesn’t need to be replaced with “has”, unless someone eliminated the pluperfect without telling me.

Any other autocorrects that drive you nuts?

Years and years ago I worked with a guy called Abudali Hirani, the auto correct on the software we were using at the time regularly changed his name to Abigail Hairbrush

My relationship with autocorrect is now at a point where it assumes my 'so' is 'do', this is thus; come is cone love is live.

If I happen to write a sentence missing a space, it seems happy for me to carry on until the word looks like it was typed out by an excited dog's wagging tail.

Doesn't everyone know autocorrect was developed by Arthur Bostrom (Officer Crabtree). That explains a lot of things...

It usually corrects my name to 'colon'. Should really be semi-colon as I'm not very tall... smile

I wonder how many ladies thought their suitor was overly violent towards their parent's sisters after receiving messages such as:

"I can't wait to get home and kick your aunt tonight"

My phone has a couple of annoying habits. 'Remembered' will often change to 'engendered', a word I dont recall ever using myself. Also punctuation. Commas will frequently be exchanged full stops, and trying to put things in quotes regularly needs me so go back and re-correct it.
Unfortunately I've not found a way to remove words from the suggested list.
Auto correct can be manipulated for commedic effect. Back at school, one of the computers was set to change 'Dear Sir' to 'Hello Rabbit' smile
