Looking for advice on which Samsung phone to get.

I currently have a Note 4 and a Galaxy S8 and looking for a newer phone to replace my aging Note 4.

I'll happily buy another S8 to replace the Note 4 but I'm thinking of something like the S9 being newer albeit released a few years ago also.

I've also just recently become aware of the "A" Series phones like the A21s which seem quite cheap new but know nothing about them.

Budget is £250 for new or refurbished so any suggestions for a phone as good as the S8 within that budget will be appreciated and any possible links to suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

For that budget, maybe an A52? A good all rounder I believe.

If you can stretch the budget a little, S20 FE looks like it's available under £300

This one will also benefit from the latest UI 4.1 software upgrade.

They must have stopped supporting the S8 and S9. I’davoid these and get something that’s still supported like the S20 FE mentioned.

For £250, I'd be looking at a brand new, sealed A52s on eBay, or a second hand S20 FE. Both will be fantastic phones and will last a good few years.

Can't really go wrong with either.

I'd avoid older as they will be on much older security updates.

I recently got a brand new S20 FE 5G from Samsung for £399 after they gave me £200 trade in for my old S7

I've got two coming soon so will able to provide some feedback: a Galaxy S22 for the wife (needs a smaller handset) and a Galaxy S20 FE 4G for me.

There's currently a deal on with Samsung, providing you can pass yourself of as a student or access their employee perks site. The Galaxy S22 was £470 and the S20 FE 4G was £215 when bought together. I also 4 smart tags for £15 and will be able to claim some Galaxy Buds Pro.

I had been after a Pixel 4a for the wife but struggled to find a good one as they've stopped making them. In the end paying £470 for a Galaxy S22 with the Buds Pro seemed like decent value for money.

That's more than I paid for my S20 Ultra 5G though, I just looked on eBay for the best new Samsung phone available for £400. It's worth looking at the trade-ins though to see what's there as they're usually way over what you'll get on eBay for an old phone.

I would put your money into a 5G fone to future proof it somewhat.

Was just thinking of starting a new thread with this question. I've currently got an S8 which is getting tired. I've been looking at the S21 FE but reviews are mixed. Can anyone give real world experience of this phone? And I wonder how it compares to the S20 FE...

Thank you all for the suggestions to date. It's really helpful as I've been out of the loop for a while with new phones.

It appears some very good phones that fit the bill can be picked up for just a little more above my budget so that's encouraging. Cheers all!!!
