Gmail email pictures slow on Android phone

[IAmTheWalrus]

Hi,

When I download a large file to my phone, it downloads in an appropriate amount of time if on wifi, its pretty quick as one would expect, however when I go to email myself photographs I have taken so as to put them onto my computer via an email, it seems to take ages, it just seems like it can download properly but not upload properly. I know in general on wifi to modems to a computer the average user has much faster down load than to upload but these are 4mb photos, they should not take more than a few seconds but I end up waiting like ten minutes?? I can emailed myself from my computer large files quickly so its clearly a phone issue, any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I use Google photos. If I take a picture on a connected device, it will automatically uploads to Google. (Synch)

When I'm at my desktop, I can see all the pics on Google photos. If I want one on my machine, I download it.

I don't need to email myself any photos.
