Bit of a long shot.

My HP Laptop has thrown up this error on boot up. It appears the hard drive is not being found. System Diagnosis on F2 confirms no Hard drive. The laptop has a 256Gb SSD and is very carefully handled and hasn’t been subjective to any knocks or drops).

Strangely every now and again it will boot up and work OK for long periods, but will usually end in a blue screen or powering off and then won’t boot back up.

Most things are backed up and a new laptop ordered as I need a reliable one for work, and this HP has had a few issues.

However is there a fix, or is it more likely to be a hardware issue that needs replacing?

TL:DR - Boot error Hard disk (3F0). Can it be easily fixed by me or doesnit need a new SSD?

Worth re-seating the drive and updating the bios if you've not already but it's usually a faulty SSD in 99% of these cases.

I haven’t re-seated the SSD yet, although I had looked online at the procedure. Looks fairly simple, just need to get the right screwdrivers as they look very specific.

It’s an ultrabook, so all the screws are hidden and everything very tight inside.

It might be the sata cable inside the machine- this has caused a few similar errors on MacBooks.
